The aluminum cold rolling process generates a large amount of oil mist, which endangers the health of workers and damages the factory environment. Although the segmented exhaust system can efficiently capture oil mist, the system’s air volume cannot be accurately distributed as needed due to the presence of special-shaped components with unknown resistance characteristics. This article focuses on the resistance characteristics of annular suction exhaust hood and seam suction semi-enclosed hood in segmented exhaust systems, and conducts the drag reduction optimization through numerical simulation methods. It is found that the key factor affecting the local resistance coefficient of annular suction exhaust hood and seam suction semi-enclosed hood is the ratio of inlet and outlet area, which is exponentially related. Regarding the main locations of vortices generated in the two components, the structural optimization is adopted to reduce the resistance by 28.6% and 22.1%, respectively. This article can provide a reference for the pipeline design of aluminum cold rolling exhaust systems.
